Doorways of Mercy
Doorways of Mercy is the only transitional housing community exclusively for women in Searcy Arkansas.
We can house up to 10 women at a time and our residents typically stay with us between six months and two years. We serve women who have aged out of foster care or completed substance abuse rehabilitation or treatment. They are required to stay at least six months to get the full benefits of the program. While residents of Doorways of Mercy each resident will be required to save most of their earnings, and participate in daily chores.
Residents will receive employment, training and education in their skill set while they transition from Doorways of Mercy to independent living. Our residents rely on community partnerships to meet the wide variety of their needs.
We are committed to bringing about lifelong change that will not only impact the life of the woman who calls Doorways of Mercy “home,” but instill in her the things she needs to create a “home” for her own family someday. We are changing lives for generations to come . . . and we don’t take the responsibility lightly!
We are a faith-based organization, connecting doorways to God’s mercy. Our residents weekly attend a church of their choice, work with a sponsor, and participate in biblical studies. We participate with our local 12 step Celebrate Recovery program. We understand that we cannot do anything alone. Our faith is our foundation.
The primary objective of Doorways of Mercy transitional housing program is to assist women of our community in attaining permanent housing, furthering their education, obtaining stable employment with adequate income to support themselves and their family, and creating an adequate support network. We accomplish this critical mission by providing women with housing for up to 24 months, during which time our case workers assist them in developing an individualized service plan designed to help them achieve their ultimate goal of becoming socially and financially self-sufficient, contributing members of our community.
Supportive, Chemical Free Housing: Doorways of Mercy provides individuals with a home like setting with a bedroom with 1 person per unit. All units contain one bedroom, living area, and full bathroom. Residents are provided a community living room and full kitchen with refrigerator and pantry.
Employment: Doorways of Mercy has on site employment for each woman when she first enters our program.
Transportation: Doorways of Mercy provides transportation services for the needs of our residents.
Celebrate Recovery: Doorways of Mercy requires all residents to work a Celebrate Recovery 12-Step recovery program in addition to mandatory in-house meetings weekly.
Drug Screening: All clients are drug tested as part of the intake process. Residents are also subject to random drug screens and breathalyzers in order to keep the campus drug and alcohol free as well as enhance individual well being.
Case Management: Our case manager works with each resident on an individual basis to set short and long-term goals, assist in applying for health insurance, educational assistance, career guidance, personal coaching, counseling and life skills training. The case manager also guides the residents through regularly scheduled meetings and case plans. We work with community partnerships to eliminate the duplication of services.
Guidance: We connect our residents with leaders in our community to help them navigate this next step in their life. We partner with many local churches, companies, and civic organizations to connect with sponsors and mentors.
